Let There Be Light

Let There Be Light

Life is about more than just accomplishing external tasks; it’s about having the internal ones met also.

For instance, it’s not uncommon to hear stories of individuals who even though they’ve accomplished all their dreams, internally they are unhappy.  They’re bitter, insecure; they have shadows lurking in the closets that they just can’t get rid of, etc.

Some of these stories come from people who we at times see as the pinnacles of success.  But then other times these stories come from normal people; people like you and I.

We can externally appear completely happy, but internally have shadows lurking in our closets that we want to get rid of.

Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:6, bridges the creation narrative in Genesis with our own personal lives when he writes;

5-6 Remember, our Message is not about ourselves; we’re proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus for you. It started when God said, “Light up the darkness!” and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful.

Way back at the beginning of the bible, where it is recording the story of creation Paul says that when God said “Light up the darkness,” it didn’t just bring light to creation, but it was intended to light up our lives too.

The first words we read God ever uttering was spoken to not just creation, but to us.  To you and I.

“Let there be light!”

I love the thought that comes with that.  Gods first declaration over us is let there be light.  He is looking at those shadows lurking in our lives that we want gone from our hearts and he is proclaiming to them; “let there be light.”

Those dark places in your heart that you want gone, my encouragement to you is that God is wanting to declare over those areas, “let there be light.”

So if that is you, pause for a moment and welcome God to speak light into those areas of your life.
